Tignes

Europe’s leading high altitude ski area

Famous for its high altitude and summer glacier skiing with a snow record most other resorts can only dream of, Tignes coolly and comfortably rivals the world’s best ski and board destinations and is made up of 4 villages. It’s got glacier skiing all the way up to 3,520m on the Grande Motte, and long, wide slopes to suit every ability. Try its famous (and long) tree-lined runs down into Les Brévières (where our Hotel Tetras Lodge is), excellent snow quality on the glacier and blues and reds to test your technique.

Tignes les Brévières 1550
We have a 4* boutique hotel, the Tetras Lodge (which is exclusive to us), in the centre of Tignes Les Brévières, the original ‘old town’ of Tignes. Brev’ is fast becoming one of France’s most desirable ski villages as it enjoys doorstep access to the very best high altitude, snow-sure slopes in the Alps; but from a pretty, chalet-style village. It suits those who prefer a quieter, more exclusive setting to the hustle and bustle of Tignes Le Lac - yet still want the best skiing at their fingertips. And don't forget the incredible La Sache run which is located at the top of Brévières and is one of the most famous descents in Tignes and Val d'Isère.

Tignes le Lac 2100
Our chalets are in Tignes Le Lac and Lavachey at 2100m. They are all situated very close to the ski slopes and nurseries of the Pacquis and Chaudanne chair lifts, so beginners can get to ski-for-free and everyone else can get Route One access to the best ski slopes without having to walk very far.

  • 300kms of Ski Area

  • 90 Blue & Green Runs

About Tignes

Tignes is twinned with neighbouring Val d’Isere and they both make up this large, high altitude ski area - all covered on the same lift pass. There are four villages at different altitudes, each with its own character and unique atmosphere: The highest two villages are Tignes Val Claret and Tignes Le Lac & Lavachet. Here, you’ll be in the heart of the action, close to the slopes and in the midst of the bustle with shops and bars aplenty. If you prefer a quieter base, choose Tignes Les Brévières - the original ‘old town’ of TIgnes. It still offers doorstep access to the best slopes (literally a gondola ride away) and some of the best local ski skiing in the area (La Sache) but with a more exclusive feel and definitely a lot more luxe in our Hotel Tetras Lodge.

Beginner & Family Skiing Tignes

If you’re a beginner or a family of skiers (or borders) then we know you’ll like it here! There’s a whole variety of excellent green and blue runs which enable beginners to explore farther afield and not be constrained to lower slopes. There’s even nine free lifts dotted around the nursery areas to get first-timers started without having to buy a lift pass!

English speaking instructors and excellent ski and board schools are standard issue in this very well facilitated resort, offering private or group lessons for children aged 4+ and beginner to experts. Lessons can be booked with our tried and tested suppliers and our sales team are on hand to help.

Intermediate and Advanced Skiing

Tignes and Val’ are a mecca for Intermediate and more advanced skiers. The slopes are characteristically wide, long lasting and highly efficient - all served by a modern Express lift system which allows for effortless skiing, less slope congestion and not a lot of waiting in lift queues!

If you like off piste then you’ll love the area’s seemingly endless supply of powder snow and easy-to-get-to off-piste itineraries. You’ll also love the long descents and excellent snow quality which characterise this resort.

Snowboarding & Freeride Skiing, Tignes

Tignes and Val’ have made their name as a top destination for Freeride skiers and snowboarders. Snow parks aplenty with hits of all sizes will greet the adventurous rider and the off piste itineraries (as mentioned above) will have you drooling long after a powder day. Late season riding is extended into May with ‘Spring Snow’ conditions - the velvety texture that off-piste snow gets when it reforms in the sun.
