Tignes Nautical Base

All our guests can get a free session of either Stand Up Paddleboarding or you can choose Kayaking or Pedalo at the Nautical Base  on the big lake in Tignes Le Lac. It’s free on your MyTignes pass, which we include with our Active Packs and makes for a great afternoon in central Tignes, where you can also try other free activities included on the MyTignes pass: like the mountain lifts for biking and walking or trampolining or the leisure centre. Le Lac is quite easy to get to from Les Brévières using the free resort shuttle.

 

Stand Up Paddleboarding

Many people can’t explain why they get so addicted to Paddleboarding. For some, it’s the ‘feel good’ factor of a core workout, for others it is the feeling of peace they get from this ‘soulful art of walking on water’.

Kayaking

  • Included in your Free Active Pack
  • Cost: €18   (adult / child 5yr+)
  • Run-time: 30 mins + on the water 
  • For ages 5+
  • Wetsuits & buoyancy aids provided
  • Tip: Bring your swimmers to wear underneath

You can choose kayaking instead of SUP and even switch between the two in quiet periods. The base has two-person and solo-kayaks which offer the perfect opportunity to explore the lake. Sit-on-top kayaks are easy to use and suit all ages 4yrs and up, even if the youngest paddlers are just passengers!

Sit-on-top kayaks require no special skills and the activity centre are on hand to help you get started. The beautiful lake of Tignes is a calm and beautiful place in the sunshine. You will start with a safety briefing before getting suited up and receiving  quick-guide lessons on how to use the kayak and paddle techniques before getting on-the-water.

Pedalo

  • Run-time: 30 mins + on the water 
  • For ages 5+
  • Wetsuits & buoyancy aids provided
  • Tip: Bring your swimmers to wear underneath

You can choose to take out a pedalo instead of kayaking or SUP and explore Tignes’ lake from a different perspective. Pedalo are a lot of fun, very relaxing, and guarantee smiles all round. Choose from a variety of craft, from 2 to 4 persons.

The Nautical Base makes for a great day out when combined with other activities near the lake, or a walk or bike ride using the mountain lifts. All of this is free to do on the MyTignes pass included in our Active Packs.

We recommend an Altitude Experience in the morning (free travel up the funicular on the MyTignes pass) before heading to the Nautical Base in the afternoon. Next door to the Base is the crazy Acroland with giant slides that hurl you into the lake.

Getting there

The Nautical Base is at Tignes Le Lac. Take the free resort minibus shuttle from Brevieres up to Tignes Le Lac, which stops 5 mins walk from our hotel and runs every 30 mins. Alight at the tourist office in Le Lac and walk past the Toviere Cable car, following the path past the tennis courts to the Nautical base in the far left corner of the lake, by the Giant Slide, (Acroland). The shuttle from Les Brévières is free on the MyTignes pass.
