Via Ferrata is a variation on rock climbing over natural rock faces. They follow pre laid routes - wires, pegs, ladders, ropes - so that no special skills are required. All of our resorts have excellent Via Ferrata and they offer an incredible way of seeing the real mountain and the sheer beauty of its scenery and wildlife.

Via Ferrata are protected climbing routes, accessible to all and we offer a variety of itineraries for all ages. They are protected routes through majestic rock formations with fixed climbing aids (ladders, rungs, wire ropes) to help you move through these scenic areas. Via ferrata mostly consist of rope assisted walks and easy to moderate climbs which do not require any special climbing skills, thus giving everyone an opportunity to witness spectacularly alpine scenery with the minimum of equipment. Via Ferrata are suitable for all ages and abilities from 10 years and up.
Run by a specialist climbing school, your instructor and guide will transport you the short distance to the location or start point. It is a great half-day excursion and offers a unique way of seeing the mountains. We like to run the activity with other Alpine Elements guests which make for sociable groups of 8 to 12 people.
Via Ferrata is a very popular add-on activity with our guests. They are rambles and climbs which do not require any special climbing skills - yet give everyone an opportunity to move through spectacular, exposed alpine scenery with minimal equipment.
The school will pick you up from your accommodation or a designated meeting place a short walk from where you are staying. It is a short 10 min drive by minibus from Morzine to St Jean d'Aulps where the activity takes place. We like to run the activity with other Alpine Elements guests which make for sociable groups of 8 to 10 people.
