Rock Climbing, Tignes

Beginner to advanced climbing in a beautiful setting

We have partnered with Evo 2 to provide a special rock climbing lesson just above Les Brévières, with one of the prettiest backdrops in all of the Vanoise National Park. All abilities (beginner to expert) can enjoy the same excursion, with easy and advanced climbs located in the same spot. Get ready to push your limits, learn new techniques, marvel at the beauty of nature and experience a little adventure.

Top Tip: Climbing or Via Ferrata is included in our Adventure Pack upgrade.

Climbing, Chevril (Les Brévières)

  • Included in our Adventure Pack Upgrade
  • Cost: €55 (adult & child)
  • 3-4 Hrs (half day +)
  • Suits beginner & expert
  • Age 7+ (accompanied by adult)
  • Run in groups of 6-8
  • Rock boots, helmets, harnesses & equipment provided

Located in a tranquil setting with an unforgettable backdrop just above the lake is a climbing spot in the hamlet of Chevril. You can E-bike to the activity meeting point or catch the free resort shuttle and enjoy the walk across the dam to the meeting place, which is a great experience in itself.

About the activity

We thoroughly recommend this activity! It has been designed with Evo 2 to give our guests the most rounded experience of climbing by introducing advanced techniques (like lead climbing) that are not taught in the UK at this level.

The session lasts 3-4 hrs and involves most of it on the rockface. It is led by a high mountain guide and instructor with a lifetime of experience and a great deal of patience with his gentle manner. This activity is a must-do adventure for adults and children; and also for advanced climbers looking for harder climbs to test themselves on.

Advanced techniques for beginners

In this excursion, you can try easy and advanced climbs following pre laid routes, all at the same site, so don't worry if you are a seasoned climber - you can do this activity with your kids and be learning new skills at the same time.

You will learn how to climb with good form, how to belay and abseil (which is lots of fun!). You’ll also learn advanced techniques from our highly experienced, state qualified instructors such as lead climbing, where you will clip in your own gear using premade routes. Think of this as a more advanced taster course for beginners which will prepare you for eventual autonomy on the climbing routes of Tignes.

Participation conditions

  • Wear suitable sportswear, trainers or boots; a windbreaker, snack and water
  • Bring your hotel packed lunch
  • All safety equipment is provided (harness and safety lines)
  • Children are welcome from 7 years old
  • Expert climbers can enjoy the activity alongside beginners.
  • No prior climbing experience required
  • Participants need to be sporty, in good physical health.
  • Participants not to be afraid of heights, although most heights are not severe

Getting There

The hamlet of Chevril is just above Tignes Les Brévierès and close to the dam. It is a few mins’ drive from our hotel. You can walk or E-bike to the activity meeting point, which is a small car park on the top of the dam’s technical building. To walk there, we’d recommend starting your journey with the free minibus shuttle from Brevieres. Alight at Tignes Les Boisses (first stop) and walk across the top of the dam following the pavement. It’s a lovely experience.

The walk takes about 5 or 10 mins’ to the carpark meeting point which is above the technical building of the dam. Walk up behind the building via the main road to Val d’Isère. From the junction to Val’ there is no pavement for 100m, but the car park is right there on the right hand side, above the technical building. The shuttle to Les Boisses is free on the MyTignes pass and the stop is 5 mins walk from our hotel. It runs every 30 mins.
