Wild Swimming

There are several ways to swim in Morzine and Tignes and wild swimming is well catered for in the lakes of Morzine (Montriond) and Les Gets. If an indoor pool is more your cup of tea, then the Aquatic centres in each resort offer laned swimming. There is a 25m indoor pool in Tignes and Morzine and a 50m Olympic size outdoor pool in Morzine.

Morzine Wild Swimming

Swimming in Lac Montriond is free and it’s easy to get to from our chalets and hotels, either using the free Navette bus or cycling up there on our free-use bikes - which is a 30 to 40 min cycle and a nice half day out.

You can also combine a trip to the lake with our free SUP and Kayak session on the lake to make a proper day out of it! At the lake is a dedicated bathing area for children and around the main lake there are buoys set out for you to do a circuit if you choose, so there is ample opportunity to really get involved! The main lake  can be quite cool, especially in June so if you are expecting to do a few laps or a training swim, you may want to bring a wetsuit. Later in the summer or on a hot day, (and there are plenty of those), the lake will warm up.

Les Gets Wild Swimming

Another option is swimming in the lake at Les Gets. It is a lot smaller than Montriond and more for bathing and fun swims or dips. But it is also free, utterly picturesque and easy to get to from our chalets and hotels.

Either get there using the free Navette bus or the fun route - following one of our Route Cards and taking our free-use bikes up the Pleney gondola. :Lift tickets for bikes are €4-5, and you can cycle down into Les Gets the fun way! Even though it uses the gondola and the high altitude trails - it’s a cycle ride suited to families. A great day out. Once there, try the Wi-Bit inflatable obstacle course to really spice up your swim!

Tignes Lakes

You are not able to wild-swim in any of the Tignes’ lakes, or the one in Les Brévières, so the Aquatic centre will have to do! However, you can use various watercraft on Tignes Le Lac main lake - like the pedalo, kayak or paddleboards (free on our Active Packs) or try the Giant Slide (Acroland) which is a lot of fun!

If something more serene and tranquil is your thing then go for a walk around our lake in Les Brévières;  or go on an adventure to Lake Chardonnet and you can even try Fly fishing. To get there, use the free shuttle from Brévières to Le Lac and head up the Palafour chairlift by Tignes Tourist office. At the top, the route is a descent on foot to the lake, approximately 1 hour in total.

Tignes

The Lagon is an indoor leisure centre and our guests have two free passes per week. It features a dedicated swimming pool (with lanes) and a family fun pool with waves, chutes, slides, fountains and lots of fun features and swimming aids for kids, with a chill-out beach for parents to rest and watch their little un's go crazy in the waves! Also, try the sauna or steam room for wellness and the gym if you fancy a holiday workout!
