Canine Rando

Hiking with Dogs

Discover Cani-Rando, with Cindy Duport, two times champion of the Grande Odysée limited (International mid-distance sled dog race). Accompanied by her group of sled-dogs, each with its own personality, you will share this passionate experience in the mountains.

It is an activity which is accessible to all, Cani-Rando does not require any particular sporting skills, the only requirement is to have fun and travel the mountain alongside these beautiful animals in the wilds of nature.

Discovery route

  • 1Hr+ hike (Allow 2.5Hrs)
  • Best for first-timers & access from our hotel
  • Age 7+
  • €34

This route has a few gradients, allowing you to discover this activity more gently. It is a route which is designed for families and children aged 7 and over, or for adults new to the sport or have a moderate level of everyday fitness. Dogs have their own personalities and are divided up according to their individual profile for this route.

This trail starts in the Tignes Les Boisses forest, just above Les Brevieres, which is an easy E-bike up to the meeting point in Tignes les Boisses car park - and also on the free shuttle-bus stop if you want to get there using the free minibus-shuttle from Brev’.

Initiation route

  • 1Hr+ hike (Allow 2.5Hrs)
  • Age 10+
  • €34

You'll set off along a stunning trail through the Paquis valleys, at the bottom of Petite Balme in Tignes Val Claret. This is an intermediate level trail with enough relief and difference in altitude for an easy hike. This trail is recommended for families and children aged 10-11 and over, and for those of a good everyday fitness. Dogs have their own personalities and are divided up according to their individual profile for this route.

Sporty route

  • 2Hr 30min hike (Allow half day+)
  • Age 13+
  • €60

For the more sporty hikers, we’d recommend going for this route. You will climb the high plateaux of Le Chardonnet with the dogs. Adults and children aged 12-13+ can try this sporty adventure through stunning high altitude scenery. Children must be able to walk independently with a dog, so would recommend all first timers try the Initiation or Discovery route first. Dogs have their own personalities and are divided up according to their individual profile for this route.

To remember

The activity is supervised, and under the responsibility of a certified instructor. You cannot be accompanied by your own dog! Dogs also have their own personalities and are divided up according to their individual profiles, matched to you as best they can be.

  • To wear/bring
  • Sportswear with trainers or mountain boots
  • A small backpack with water
  • An extra snack for sports outings

Getting there

For the Discovery Route:

Meet at Tignes les Boisses parking (just above Les Brevieres) which is a very do-able E-bike or right on the free shuttle stop.

For the Initiation & Sporty Routes:

Meeting point is at the Evolution2 hut next to the "Tichot" chairlift (by Club Med) in Tignes Val Claret. Simply take the free resort minibus shuttle from Les Brevieres up to Tignes Le Lac (which stops 5 mins walk from our hotel and runs every 30 mins). The minibus stops near the tourist office and you can then jump on the resort shuttle (a second bus) up to Val Claret. Alight the bus at the ‘Destination Glacier’ funicular and double back to the Tichot chairlift, a 2 min walk away. The shuttle from Les Brevieres and Le Lac are both free on the MyTignes pass. Journey time approx 30 mins
