Summer 2023 in the Alps

We are now almost two weeks into summer, so it is fair to say it has officially started. Our new Activity staff are getting stuck into the mountain and all it has to offer, guiding our guests around the best things to do and helping them plan some epic excursions, whether it’s hiking up to the swiss border, mountain bike rides to the lake, whitewater rafting expeditions or our active kids club.

There’s lots going on this summer and here are just a few images taken this week to give you a taste of what to expect.

Airport queues Our Hotel Philibert and a couple of bikes waiting for another adventure as guests pit stop for lunch.

Airport queues One of the many zip wires at Cascades Adventure Park in Morzine. All of our guests seem to really love this inclusive activity. Adults can do the zipwire and younger (less confident) children under 1m25 can follow them down by running through the tree houses on the left in the image. This way, the family can move through this tree-line course together.

Airport queues Early morning breakfast view from the mechanics workshop onto the garden: bikes being prepped for an adventurous day ahead.

Airport queues Midday cycle along the river after a jaunt at the ‘Cascades’. Dad and son heading back to Chalet Austin for lunch.

Airport queues Canyoning! This is a seriously addictive and fun sport. Here, the younger guests get involved in an afternoon of leaping into rock pools, sliding down water chutes and abseiling waterfalls.

Airport queues Then, time for a rest or a swim in the rock pools.

Airport queues Our own Chalet Nyon in Morzine, which looks out onto the forest and Nyon waterfalls adhere all these great activities take place.

Airport queues Hotel Philibert about to host some sunbathers and lunchtime returners as guests take a pause in the day’s events.

Airport queues We challenge you to hike the Pointe Ressachaux! It's one of Morzine-Avoriaz most spectacular peaks and doable for those of an average-to-good hiking fitness. Liam from Hotel Hermine managed to smash this one out in 2Hrs 40min, so you can ask him about it when you arrive! I am sure he will be glad to impart some local knowledge on his route. If you can beat his time, beers are on us! Send us a time stamped photo at this signpost and one at the summit!
