Glacier Hike

On the Grande Motte glacier in Tignes, you can join a guided hike to experience the magical landscape of a glacier at 3500m+ and the incredible panoramic scenery of the surrounding peaks of Mont Pourri, the Grande Sassière ridges and the majestic Mont Blanc range. It’s a hike in the snow with crampons and ice axes, but requires no special skills as your guide will teach you all you need to know, including techniques to safely transition the glacier.

An experience like no other

  • 4Hrs Allow half day+
  • Ages 12+
  • Group size: 8-10
  • From €69

Glacier hiking is much more than just a walk. It's a total immersion in a pristine environment, where you'll discover awesome ice formations, deep crevasses and an experience unlike one you’ve ever had before.

The guides are passionate experts, specialising in these high mountain areas. You'll be equipped with everything you need to walk on ice with confidence: crampons, ice axes and harnesses. You'll learn the basic techniques of glacier walking and be amazed by the unique sensation of walking on the smooth, cold surface of the glacier.

It will whisk you up to Tignes le lac in about 10 mins, from where you can take the very regular (free) navette bus up to the funicular. These buses are all free on the MyTignes pass.
