A summertime week in Morzine

A typical week in Morzine, summer 2025

Morzine is a buzzing mountain town in the French Alps with sensational scenery and great weather. There are dozens of activities for everyone to discover - from family adventurers to adrenaline seekers - and our Active Team will help you make the most of your week away.

We offer some of the best activities (for free) with our Active Packs so you’ll get the most rounded experience of the Alps; and this is a suggestion of what your week could look like:

A Family Adventure Holiday

Morzine is suitable for all ages with plenty to do for kids and teens of all ages, (4 years and up). There’s also a mountain of activities for adults to choose from, so whether you have a penchant for culture and relaxation or a need for some thrills - Morzine has got it covered!

Our holidays encourage families to be active and enjoy the Alps together, but our Active Kids Clubs also give mum and dad some time out to do an activity or two for themselves.

Day 1 - Mountain biking

Grab one of our free-use bikes from the hotel racks and try a bike ride along the river Dranse, it’s great for all ages and you can get your biking legs warmed up on a leisurely river-trail. Kids will love the woodland activities you can do along the way; and a picnic by the river is always popular.

Or, head for the hills and try a more adventurous ride at altitude, following one of our epic Route Cards

In the Afternoon
Why not venture up to the Nyon waterfalls - on two wheels or two feet. Alternatively, grab your free lift pass and head up the Pleney gondola for spectacular views, high altitude walks and a mountain restaurant. There’s also resort-based activities, free on your Multipass, like ice skating, tennis and swimming.

Day 2 - The lakes for swimming & watersports

Why not visit Lac Montriond to try some lake swimming, a woodland walk around the lake and to make use of our inclusive paddleboarding and kayaking excursion. It’s a great day out with lakeside restaurants and cafes.

Our Active Team will be at the lake to meet you and you can choose to either take out a stand up paddleboard or a sit-on-top kayak . Each session lasts for about an hour and if you have any energy left you can extend your time with the kayak centre. It’s a beautiful lake and our guests love to explore this tranquil waterway.

In the Afternoon
After your session on the lake, why not go for lunch at a lake restaurant or walk up to the Goat Village (a village inhabited by many goats) which is about an hour’s walk from the lake. For a shorter walk, then a loop of the lake makes for a lovely stroll along its lakeside paths.

Kayaking & Paddleboarding

Day 3 Whitewater rafting day trip

A highlight of the week is our free Whitewater Rafting excursion which we include for all guests. It’s a great social event and you’ll have a blast with other Alpine Elements guests.

Rafting is a great hit with all our guests and is suitable for ages 8+ (confident swimmers). The adventure is run by experienced guides who will pilot your boat downstream in a most beautiful setting. You’ll be picked up after breakfast (by coach) for the journey down to the rafting centre. Younger children can be looked after by our childcare team in a specially extended Breakfast Club.

In the Afternoon
It’s probably been an eventful morning, so relax at the hotel pool or in your chalet garden. Amble around Morzines’ shops and cafes, or, go for a high-altitude walk using your free lift pass if you have any energy left! We have plenty of Route Cards to choose from, and the mountain lifts are open all day.

Day 4 - ‘Cascades’ Tree Top Adventure

Another highlight is our inclusive excursion to ‘Cascades Adventure’ which was voted most popular activity of the week by 2024 guests. It’s a treetop adventure course at the Nyon Waterfalls and you’ll enjoy the art of making your way through the trees using harness lines and a combination of zip wires and rope walks among other paraphernalia. The activity lasts for just over 3 hours and there are five courses to choose from - for tentative to adventurous adults and Kids aged 6+ There’s also an Adventure PLUS course for confident adults and teens’.

It is also an enjoyable walk or ride to the centre if you don't want to take the free bus, so you can extend your day out on two wheels or two feet and also tour around the Nyon waterfalls which are near the activity.

In the Afternoon
After your Cascades adventure, you can take lunch in the Cascades cafe and extend your day by walking or cycling to Lac Mines d'Or which is a stunning, bucolic lake about an hour or so’s hike from Cascades. Our Active team can give you a Route Card for these walks and rides.

Day 5 - High altitude walk or ride to Fantasticable

This is a great day out. It is a loop-walk or bike ride using the lifts (Super Morzine and Zorre chairlift) which takes you up high and allows you to cycle down an easier track and Col road down to the goat village and Lake Montriond. It will suit even kids of age 5+ who can cycle confidently.

Make sure you follow the Route card we give you and stick to the trail and roads suited to our bikes and you’ll have a great time!

On the way down to the lake you can visit the longest Zipwire in Europe, (the Fantasticable), and the Goat Village for ice cream and a coffee - which is a mountain village inhabited by goats. Continue your cycle or walk and you will end up at Lake Montriond where you can finish the day sunbathing and wild swimming. If you've any energy left, walk or ride the remaining distance home, or just take the free bus.

For the Fantasticable: Half way down to the lake, just before Goat Village, you will come to the Lindarets bowl and the Chaux Fleurie chairlift which goes straight up to the Fantasticable Zipwire (from €17).

Ask your Active Rep for a detailed Route Card of this day out when you arrive.

Day 6 - Walk or cycle to Les Gets - using the lifts

This is an exciting day out! Follow one of our Route Cards and use your free lift pass to take the Pleney cable car up to the top (an elevation of 989m) where there is a restaurant and a family biking trail or a walking path which leads across the top and down into Les Gets. As you drop down into les Gets during this scenic walk at altitude you will come across the lake which makes a great pit-stop.

In the Afternoon
Why not just enjoy the lake for sun bathing… wild swimming… or try the inflatable obstacle course, known as the Wi-Bit. It’s a great activity for all ages, (from €14), before heading down into Les Gets itself to browse its many shops and cafes. You can take the free bus back to Morzine or retrace your steps using the Chavannes chairlift which heads back up from the resort centre.
