Via Ferrata

Tignes & Val d’Isère: A must-do activity in this region!

Tignes and Val d’Isère is famous for its Via Ferrata. So impressive are its scenic Via Ferrata that they attract visitors from all over Europe just to experience these staggeringly impressive cliffs, rock faces and mountain formations. You will enjoy the activity with other Alpine Elements guests and without the need for special climbing skills. Via Ferrata suit everyone (so long as you don't fear heights!) and have a number of levels for different abilities and tastes. These protected climbing routes have fixed climbing aids (ladders, rungs, wire ropes, rope bridges) and consist of assisted walks with easy to moderate climbs depending on the level you choose.

Via Ferrata - Val d'Isère

Via Ferrata offer a unique way of experiencing the majesty of the mountains. Led by a high mountain guide and instructor our Via Ferrata excursion offers different levels for a range of abilities and tastes. Via Ferrata ‘expeditons’ suit all ages 11-12+ with a moderate walking fitness and an ability to climb and scramble over easy rock faces using pre-laid aids. They are run with local professionals in groups of around 6-8 people. Allow just over half-a-day for this activity and enjoy the activity with other like-minded Alpine Elements guests which makes for a very sociable event. 

Participation conditions

  • Wear suitable sportswear, trainers or boots; a windbreaker, snack and water
  • Bring your hotel packed lunch
  • All safety equipment is provided (harness and safety lines)
  • Children are welcome from 12 years old
  • No climbing experience required
  • This is not an activity for those scared of heights and ledges!
  • Participants need to be sporty, in good physical health.

Getting there

The Via Ferrata is in La Daille, Val d’Isère - about a 15min drive from our hotel in Tignes Les Brevieres. We will provide transport to and from our hotel door in Brevieres to the activity base, by private minibus or taxi for a small local fee. Alternatively, it is quite easy for self drives to get to.
