Tignes is in the southern French Alps in the Vanoise National Park. It enjoys lots of sunshine, spectacular scenery and is a mountain playground with dozens of fun activities to try. We’ve selected some of the best activities to do on a holiday to Tignes and included them for free in our Active Packs for all our guests staying at Hotel Tetras Lodge.
These activities will give you the most rounded experience of the region - a vast and protected park full of alpine flora, fauna, (that’s wildlife to you and me!), incredible vistas and snow covered glaciers. Almost all our professional guides and activities will start out from our hotel.
Our 4* hotel is in Tignes Les Brévières, the original ‘old town’ of Tignes. It’s quieter than Tignes-centre and utterly picturesque - surrounded by stunning walks and bike rides in nature. We run a more luxe holiday with a few more inclusive activities than usual and we also include professional mountain guides for hiking and biking adventures - so you get a more rewarding and exclusive experience.
Tignes is in the southern alps and enjoys a high sunshine record with a lot of great weather. Its huge altitude range (1550m to 3456m+) allows us to offer our guests a more adventurous and diverse holiday where you can try everything from Whitewater rafting to glacier tours at 3550m. You can even ski in the summer on Tignes’ glacier!

A guided hike is the best way to see the area, and ours are led by professional mountain guides who will show you some incredible sights, wildlife and mountain culture. Join our family Discovery Walk or our Adventure hike.
TOP TIP: Upgrade to our Adventure Pack and have a full day guided hike to the Refuge Martin for lunch.
Play some tennis on the courts by the hotel or take a road bike or mountain bike from our hotel racks and explore the local trails.
If you like adrenaline then try our Downhill mountain bike lesson (from £30) and learn how to use the bike lifts and high-altitude trails. Do it early in the week and you will be equipped with the skills to ride the DH trails for the rest of your week, so long as you rent a Pro bike.

Take one of our hotel E-Bikes for a spin.They’re guaranteed to get you hooked from the first pedal stroke! Our professional guides will meet you at the hotel for an E-bike ‘Discovery’ tour or an ‘Adventure’ ride for more experienced riders. Your guide is also an instructor and will impart riding tips and techniques. E-bikes will give you the opportunity to cover extended mileages and see a lot of the region and our guided rides are a sociable event, enjoyed with fellow Alpine Elements guests.
Go for a walk or a bike ride around the gorgeous lake in front of our hotel. Or take the free bus up to Tignes and use the lifts to walk at altitude, using your free lift pass.
Included: Allow a full day
The Grande Motte glacier is a must-do excursion and you can walk in a glacial zone. Your MyTignes pass will give you a free ride up the funicular to the Panoramic terrace where you can enjoy a coffee or lunch at (3032m) with incredible views across the Alps. Then, for a €10 lift ticket you can extend your adventure on the cable car to the top of the glacier at 3456m.

Visit the lake in Tignes and go for your free session of Paddleboarding, Pedalo or Kayaking - which is on the way home back to Hotel Tetras.

Included for all our hotel guests is a Whitewater Rafting experience for ages 8+ which is a great social with other Alpine Elements guests. The rapids in Tignes are some of the best in France. The rafting centre is in a beautiful riverside setting with a wonderful team to welcoming

Grab one of our free-use Mtn bikes or your walking shoes (and your free lift pass) and go for an epic adventure using the lifts to cover lots of miles and see the region in full. If you like adrenaline, then try mountain biking on Downhill trails and in Tignes we offer MTB lessons for aspiring DH riders. Walkers will love our Route Cards and walks like the 'Eye of the Needle', one of the most INSTAGRAMMED views in the region.

Included: Guided MTB Bike Ride
You’ve enjoyed our complimentary guided E-Bike ride earlier in the week, so now it’s time to join a professionally guided mountain bike ride. Choose from our family Discovery tour or an Adventure ride. Your guide is an expert rider from Evo 2 and will also teach you some useful tips and techniques for trail riding on a mountain bike.
TOP TIP: If you don't want a guided MTB ride, we’ll organise a guided hike instead
