Your week in Tignes

A typical week at Hotel Tetras Lodge in Tignes for summer 2025

We’ve selected six of the best activities to do on holiday in Tignes, (one for each day of your week), and they’re all free-to-do in our Active Pack, to guests of the Hotel Tetras Lodge in Les Brevieres.

These activities will give you the most rounded experience of the spectacular Vanoise National Park - a protected area full of alpine flora, fauna, (that’s wildlife to you and me!), incredible mountain vistas and snow covered glaciers - all of which you can experience on two feet, by two wheels, or with a paddle in your hands!

If you like a little ‘luxe’ with your alpine holiday…

Tignes Les Brevieres is the original ‘old town’ of Tignes. It’s quieter than Tignes and utterly picturesque - surrounded by stunning walks and bike rides in nature. We run a more luxe holiday where the guides (or transport) and activities come to our hotel, so you don't always have to go wandering off looking for meeting points.

For those who like adventure

The southern alpine sunshine promises a lot of great weather and the huge altitude range (1550m to 3456m+) allows us to offer our guests a more adventurous, rugged and diverse holiday where you can try everything from Whitewater rafting… to glacier tours…high altitude hikes to a refuge… and even summer skiing!

More about Tignes

Day 1 - Guided Hiking

Included | Half day / or Full day

A guided hike is the best way to see the area, and ours are led by professional mountain guides who will show you some incredible sights, wildlife and mountain culture. Join a Discovery walk for families or an Adventure hike to the Eye of the Needle, a spectacular rock formation which is one of the region's most INSTA-captured images.

If you have upgraded to our Adventure Pack, you will enjoy a full day excursion, hiking to the Refuge Martin for lunch at 2187m which is an incredible day out. For guests with good walking fitness.

In the afternoon, why not play some tennis or take out a mountain bike from our hotel for a ride around the lake.

Or, try a Downhill mountain bike lesson and learn how to use the bike lifts and high-altitude trails. Do it early in the week and you will be equipped with the skills to ride the DH trails for the rest of your week, if you rent a Pro bike.

Day 2 - Guided E-Bike Tour

Included | Allow half a day + | Ages 10+

We offer a guided E-bike ‘Discovery’ tour or ‘Adventure’ ride for more experienced riders. Your guide is a professional instructor and will impart riding tips and techniques to help you master E-biking on gentle off road trails. You will also get to cruise around an extended area (thanks to these pedal assisted machines) and see quite a lot of the region. It’s a sociable ride enjoyed with fellow Alpine Elements guests in groups of 10-12.

In the afternoon, take it easy and try one of our itinerary walks or bike rides around the lake in front of the hotel. Or, take the free bus up to Tignes and use the lifts to walk or sightsee. It’s all free on your MyTignes pass.

Day 3 - Altitude Experience & Lake Activities

Included | Allow a full day

The Grande Motte glacier is a must-do excursion and will take you to 3456m and allow you to walk in a glacial zone. Enjoy a coffee or lunch at the Panoramic terrace (3032m) and experience incredible views across the Alps. Then, for a €10 lift ticket  you can extend your adventure and  board the cable car to the top of the glacier.

As a further upgrade, you can join a guided glacier hike with a professional mountaineer from Evo 2 and hike across a snow covered glacier using crampons, ice axes and harnesses. This experience is for everyone of a moderate fitness and can be booked on arrival at hotel Tetras in your welcome meeting.

In the afternoon, why not visit the lake in Tignes and use your free session of Paddleboarding or kayaking - which is on the way home. Or try the Giant Slide at Acroland.

Day 4 - Whitewater Rafting

Included | Allow half a day + | Age 8+

Included for all our hotel guests is a Whitewater Rafting experience for ages 8+; or you can choose Via Ferrata if rafting isn't quite your cup of tea. If you choose rafting, you will be exhilarated on grade 2-3 rapids, which are suitable for families.

Adventure Pack guests will be upgraded to grade 2-4 rapids for a longer, faster ride called the ‘Great Descent’, (ages 12+). The rafting centre is in a beautiful riverside setting with a wonderful, welcoming team who will make sure you have a great time. You will be picked up directly from the hotel and the drive is about 30-40 mins

In the afternoon: It will be mid-afternoon by the time you return, so why not take it easy for a while?...Enjoy the hotel garden, the lake and the beautiful restaurants and bars in Les Brevieres

Whitewater rafting

Day 5 - Via Ferrata & E-Biking

Included | Allow half a day + | Age 10+

Upgrade to our Adventure Pack and experience some of the best Via Ferrata in France. You will move through spectacular mountain scenery using pre-laid mountaineering routes. No special climbing skills are required. Cross rope bridges and scale rock faces as you walk, ramble and climb through stunning places. Three routes are available for different skill levels. Groups are 5-6 people.

In the afternoon: Make use of your free E-Bike session (a half day rental) and explore the local area. You can upgrade to a full day hire for just £25 if Via ferrata is not on the agenda; and because you’ve enjoyed your inclusive Guided ride earlier in the week, now it’s time to go on your own adventure!

Day 6 - Guided Bike ride or a Guided Hike

Included | Allow half a day + | Age 10+

Choose a professionally guided ‘Discovery’ tour or an 'Adventure' ride with an expert bike guide from Evo 2 or choose a guided hike instead. Our guided rides generally take place from the hotel doorstep and your guide will teach you some useful tips and techniques for riding a mountain bike on trails.

If you choose hiking, you will enjoy a sociable hike with fellow Alpine Elements guests and a different walk to the hike from earlier in the week which will take in some high altitude trails.

All these activities are free

All of the activities featured on this page are free and included with your Active Pack or Adventure Pack upgrade. Where a second activity option is suggested, such as a guided hike instead of an MTB ride it will require a minimum number of participants, which is 8 for the hike. We don’t often have a problem with participant numbers. All activities are supplied by third party suppliers for whom we act as agents and whose terms and conditions will apply.
